Making a Difference with Tea

PRESS RELEASE

Making a difference with Tea

TeaForaCause is a brand new concept focusing on helping schools, sports groups and not-for-profits raise needed funds by fundraising. Through the creation of custom blended teas we are able to not only help make a difference for that group, but also offer a product that is healthy, of high quality and something that more and more people are enjoying every day.

During the first week of May, we closed off our first official campaign with the grade 6 students at Shannon Lake Elementary School, in West Kelowna, BC. After learning about tea and the global south, they broke into groups and created six (6) custom teas. Funds raised from their campaign were going to help pay for their year-end trip to Thetis Island and a portion was to be used for micro-lending. After their 2.5 week campaign which ran in the month of April, the students raised close to $900 with nearly $90 going towards micro-lending in the Global South. The Shannon Lake Elementary teas are still available for purchase. Visit their campaign page for more details.

Currently we are running two other campaigns, one for the Giants Head Grind and one for the Frances Kelsey Secondary School Gardening Program. Giants Head Grind, founded by Ellen Matthews, is the 3rd Annual Christopher Walker Memorial race raising needed funds for Colon Cancer detection, diagnosis and research. Ellen created three (3) teas, Giants Head Green; a hockey inspired tea, The Netminder and Walker’s Toddler’s Tea. Each has a story behind it and they all taste amazing. The teas are available via our website and at the race itself in Summerland, BC on Saturday, May 21. For more information on the race, Giants Head Grind, please visit their website: http://giantsheadgrind.ca/.

The Francis Kelsey Secondary School Gardening Program is raising money to purchase much needed gardening supplies for their vegetable garden, including fencing and hopefully a greenhouse one day. They have created some garden inspired teas including Dragonfly in Amber which is a Darjeeling and orange peel blended black tea. Bee Calm & Carry On is a caffeine free rooibos creamed Earl Grey. They have also created Flower Power, a hibiscus blend and Green Goodness, you guessed it, a green tea and herb based blend.

With something as simple as a cup of tea, some creative words, and a passion for helping others, we hope to make a difference in the lives of those around us. This universal beverage can mean so much to so many; a healthy alternative to the daily grind, a soothing aroma to ease the mind and the tummy or a fun beverage to make us feel energetic and alive.

TeaForaCause is a branch of My Tea Blending Room founded by Pierre & Amber Piché in 2012. Pierre and Amber are also the founders of MOTEAS, a manufacturer and distributor of Organic Certified and Certified Fair Trade teas and tisanes. Today they spend their time focusing on helping community groups, sports clubs and not-for-profits raise needed funds through the sale of specialty and custom branded loose leaf teas.
